The two courses at Desert Willow are just the beginning of what promises to be one of Palm Springs most exciting golf destinations. In the works are more than 1000 guest rooms, convention facilities, a third course, and a 700-unit vacation complex. Designed by PGA Tour player John Cook, Michael Hurzdan, and Dana Frye, the two existing courses offer an extremely fun challenge for players of all abilities. Firecliff is considered the tougher of the two and has received much recognition for its environmentally sound design and construction. Although Mountain View was built to be more of a resort-style course, trouble lurks on every hole. Superbly maintained, Desert Willow Golf Resort is located between Country Club and Frank Sinatra Drives.

Open since November 1, 2006, this par-72 championship course is the first of two new golf courses to be built at the Indian Wells Golf Resort. The City of Indian Wells supplied Clark with the original West Course property plus an additional 30 acres. Clark moved nearly 320,000 cubic yards of dirt to create an entirely new design. At the same time, he ingeniously used many of the mature trees from the West course. The result is a playable golf course within a beautiful setting. Come see it for yourself on your next trip to Palm Springs.

The course teems with purple, white and yellow wildflowers, while the mix of tall and short native grasses produce different shades of green running almost to silver. The grass covers just 60 acres of tight fairways that taper toward the greens with nine ponds covering 18 acres. From the first glance at this course you will know that it is a Pete Dye design, and one of his more enjoyable ones at that. All of his trademarks are here: railroad ties, water carries, pot bunkers, and elevated tees. From the back it plays at 6,700 yards and with four sets of tees it will be a good test for all skill levels. Combine this with Mission Hills North for an outstanding 36-hole day.
